Integrated Community Approach to Combating Child Labor Project
In most cocoa farming communities in Kailahun, Kono and Kenema districts, children were subjected to harmful labor. In a bid to combat and prevent child labor in these communities, ChildFund in partnership with N’domakeh Federation, implemented a three-year Integrated Community Approach to Combating Child Labor project. The first phase of the project officially closed in 2023.
The project has the following objectives:
- To improve the livelihoods and economic capabilities of 6,000 cocoa and coffee farming families for the elimination of child labor among children aged 6 to 17 years.
- To strengthen formal and informal Community-Based Child Protection Systems–reporting, response and referral mechanisms on child labor among children 6-17 years.

The project was successfully implemented with funding from the Dutch Government through Tradin Organic, a global front runner in organic ingredients.
