The Salone Pikin 4 Play en Lan (SPPL) is an outcomes partnership led by the Government of Sierra Leone, in partnership with Education Outcomes Fund (EOF), to expand access to quality early learning. Supported by the LEGO Foundation, the Embassy of Denmark and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the programme aims to expand access to early childhood care and education for 29,000 children aged three to five, while establishing 87 community-based early childhood development.

Under this result-based programme, ChildFund is working in 43 communities across 5 districts under the programme renovating and constructing classrooms and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities with the aim of increasing attendance, improving structural quality, strengthening caregiver capacity to deliver play-based learning, and achieving measurable improvements in children’s development.

The primary objective of this programme is to increase access to Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) quality provision for children ages 3 to 5, with the goal of improving holistic child development and early learning opportunities. This will be done by repurposing existing infrastructure for the opening of new community-based Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres in underserved areas of the country, benefiting those with the greatest needs
